about

wyatt penn keusch is a composer, sound artist and electro-acoustic improviser who lives in southern california.

in 1998, he saw the come to daddy music video on german television, and the rest, as they say, is history. an unrelenting obsession with all manner of sounds and noises was born, which over time has been steadily focusing and refining itself, from the early days of guitar pedal / 8-track collage, to the mid-aughts' laptop jockeying, through modular synthesizer improvisation and to its current incarnation in non-idomatic nonsense.

in 2008, he founded a private press experimental music record label called khalija (currently run in partnership with casey anderson), in order to release his own work as well as the work of a group of like-minded individuals. to date, khalija has released 41 albums on cassette, cd, vhs and digital download, including 4 annual label-wide compilations.

wyatt has released 7 solo albums, 12 collaborative albums and has appeared on 7 compilations, for the mille plateaux, khalija and circuitree labels. to date, he has performed 99 concerts/installations/events of electronic music, and hopes to continue doing so as long as his ears and hands still work.

his most frequent (and most frequently successful) collaborations are those with scott cazan, sam jones and anthony cantor (as tired device), though others with tim perkis, ethan braun, jinku kim, raphael arar, james lake and riley reasor have yielded interesting & rewarding results as well.

he is currently working on a historical text with sara roberts, and has been a featured lecturer on noise and electronic musics at calarts.
