“A few years back Wyatt sent me some dub beats and asked if I wanted to do vocals on them. At the time I was interested in doing more singing and 'traditional songwriting', but the beats were fairly static, without much in terms of chord progression. Perhaps selfishly, I took it upon myself to transform those tracks into songs that would satisfy my own needs to rock out and sing my cold little heart out. This was not always a quick and easy process, but sometimes you have to bash your art against a wall until it breaks open and reveals itself. I replayed synth bass lines on a real bass, added guitar layers, and sang gibberish until it became words. When I was finished processing all this subtle, chill music through my drama queen machine, I was left with a grotesque changeling, though the original spirit of the music was still crying out somewhere beneath the hideous facade. We're both very proud of the end result, and can hear many influences poking their tendrils through the mire, though I'm not quite sure how to characterize the genre. Generally I think genre is for marketing, and I prefer to leave these impressions up to the listener.

As far as the concept, which is perhaps more of a 'theme', it's a bit of a good old fashioned murder mystery, though I'd caution against looking too hard for it.”
